Agentforce Pricing and Licenses Explained: Conversations, Flex Credits and Editions

Agentforce pricing comes in three shapes at Salesforce's list pricing: pay-per-conversation at roughly $2 per conversation, Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits (an action consumes about 20 credits, so think ~$0.10 per action), and Agentforce 1 Editions at around $550 per user per month for teams that want AI bundled with the license instead of metered. Every one of them sits on top of the Salesforce licenses you already pay for. Here's how to tell which model fits your volume — and what the license names actually mean.

The three pricing models

ModelList priceBest for
Per conversation~$2 per conversationCustomer-facing service agents with predictable, modest volume
Flex Credits$500 per 100,000 credits (~$0.10/action)Mixed workloads — agents that take actions, not just chat
Agentforce 1 Editions~$550/user/monthTeams going all-in where metered billing would exceed a flat rate

A "conversation" is a customer session with your agent (Salesforce counts a 24-hour window); an "action" is a discrete step an agent takes — looking up a record, updating a field, drafting a reply. Flex Credits meter the second kind of work, which is why Salesforce has been steering new contracts toward credits: modern agents act more than they chat.

There's also Agentforce Foundations — a free entry tier included with Enterprise Edition and above that ships a limited credit allowance so you can pilot before committing. If you're still at the "what even is this" stage, start with what Salesforce Agentforce is.

What license do you actually need?

The question behind "Agentforce license" is usually simpler than the price sheet: you don't buy a standalone Agentforce license the way you buy a Sales Cloud seat. You need:

  1. An underlying Salesforce org — Enterprise Edition or above for most Agentforce features. That's the base spend; see how much Salesforce CRM costs.
  2. A consumption commitment — conversations or Flex Credits, sized to your volume.
  3. The readiness work — data cleanup and knowledge structuring, which is a real cost line, not a footnote. The readiness checklist shows what's involved.

Worked example: 500 support conversations a month

  • Per-conversation: 500 × $2 = $1,000/month.
  • Flex Credits: if each conversation averages 6 actions, that's 3,000 actions ≈ 60,000 credits ≈ $300/month. Credits usually win once agents do real work per session.
  • Agentforce 1: at $550/user/month, this only beats metering when heavy usage concentrates in few seats.

What about Agentforce Vibes?

Agentforce Vibes is Salesforce's agentic coding tool (for building on the platform), not a customer-facing agent SKU — it launched free to start for developers, with the capacity its agents consume drawing on the same credit system. If you searched "Agentforce Vibes pricing" wanting chatbot pricing, the models above are the ones that matter.

Negotiating notes

  • List prices are a starting point; consumption commitments are negotiable, especially at renewal.
  • Don't buy credits for volume you haven't proven. Pilot on Foundations, measure, then commit.
  • Watch the hidden costs of AI automation — integration and maintenance don't appear on Salesforce's quote.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Agentforce cost per conversation?

Roughly $2 per conversation at Salesforce's list pricing, where a conversation is a customer session within a 24-hour window. Salesforce is steering newer contracts toward Flex Credits ($500 per 100,000 credits, about $0.10 per action), which usually works out cheaper for agents that take actions rather than just chat.

Do I need a special Salesforce license for Agentforce?

There's no standalone Agentforce seat like a Sales Cloud license. You need an underlying Salesforce org (Enterprise Edition or above for most features) plus a consumption commitment — per-conversation or Flex Credits. Agentforce Foundations, included with Enterprise Edition and up, provides a limited free credit allowance for piloting.

What are Salesforce Flex Credits?

A usage currency for Agentforce: $500 buys 100,000 credits at list, and an agent action (looking up a record, updating a field, drafting a reply) consumes about 20 credits — roughly $0.10 per action. Credits meter what agents do rather than how long they talk, which fits action-taking agents better than per-conversation pricing.

Is Agentforce Vibes priced the same way?

No — Agentforce Vibes is Salesforce's agentic coding tool for developers building on the platform, not a customer-facing agent product. It launched free to start, with deployed capacity drawing on the same credit system. If you're pricing a customer-facing agent, the conversation/credit/edition models are what matter.
