HubSpot's Nonprofit Discount: What the 40% Actually Covers

HubSpot gives eligible nonprofits 40% off paid plans — but it's new customers only, annual terms only, limited to a few countries, excludes the Starter tier, and doesn't touch onboarding fees. What qualifies, and what that does to the real cost.

HubSpot's Nonprofit Discount: What the 40% Actually Covers

HubSpot's nonprofit programme gives eligible organisations 40% off paid plans — but it's narrower than most write-ups suggest. It's new customers only, annual contracts only, restricted to a few countries, excludes the Starter tier entirely, and does not reduce onboarding fees. Here's what actually qualifies, so you can price it properly before you build a budget around it.

Running Salesforce too? When it makes sense to run HubSpot and Salesforce together covers the hybrid setup honestly, including when it isn't worth it.

What you get

40% off HubSpot's paid subscriptions, applied across the product lines — Marketing, Sales, Service, Content and the bundled CRM suites. HubSpot's free CRM tier remains available to anyone regardless of the programme, so if your needs are modest you may not need the discount at all.

The eligibility rules that actually filter people out

  • Location. Your organisation needs to be registered as a nonprofit in North America, Australia or New Zealand. This is the one that disqualifies the most organisations, and it's rarely mentioned prominently. If you're a UK, EU, Indian or Singaporean nonprofit, this programme as described doesn't apply to you — check HubSpot's current regional terms directly rather than assuming.
  • Recognised legal status. A registered charity, nonprofit, or NGO. Informal community groups and fiscally-sponsored projects without their own status generally won't qualify.
  • New customers only. If you're already paying HubSpot, the nonprofit discount isn't a renegotiation lever on your existing contract.
  • Annual term. Month-to-month doesn't qualify.

The exclusions that change the maths

Two of these matter enough to redo a budget over:

  • Starter tier is excluded. The discount applies to net-new Professional or Enterprise products. So the cheapest paid entry point doesn't get 40% off — meaning the real decision is "is Professional worth it at a discount," not "is HubSpot cheap for nonprofits."
  • Onboarding fees are not discounted. HubSpot's mandatory onboarding on higher tiers is a separate, meaningful line item, and it stays at full price. Budget it separately.

Pricing and programme terms change; treat the specifics above as a starting point to verify against HubSpot's current nonprofit page rather than as a quote.

How this compares to the Salesforce side

Worth knowing if you're weighing both: Salesforce's Power of Us programme gives eligible nonprofits 10 free subscriptions, with discounted licences beyond that — a structurally different offer from a percentage discount. That's part of why so many nonprofits end up on Salesforce as the system of record and consider HubSpot for marketing on top, rather than choosing one outright. The NPSP vs Nonprofit Cloud comparison covers what the Salesforce side actually involves, and note that Salesforce renamed Nonprofit Cloud to Agentforce Nonprofit in December 2025, so newer material uses that name.

Before you apply

Work out which tier you'd actually need first. A 40% discount on a Professional plan you don't need is more expensive than a free tier that covers you. Map your real requirements — how many contacts, how many campaigns, whether you need automation or just email — and price the discounted tier against them.

If you want help sizing that honestly, including whether you need a second platform at all, a free consultation is a good place to start.

Frequently asked questions

How much is HubSpot's nonprofit discount?

40% off paid subscriptions across HubSpot's product lines for eligible organisations. HubSpot's free CRM tier is separately available to anyone, so if your requirements are modest you may not need the programme at all. Terms change — verify against HubSpot's current nonprofit page before budgeting.

Who is eligible for HubSpot's nonprofit programme?

Organisations registered as a charity, nonprofit or NGO with recognised legal status, located in North America, Australia or New Zealand, that are new HubSpot customers signing an annual term. The geographic restriction is the one that disqualifies most applicants and is rarely mentioned prominently — UK, EU, Indian and Singaporean nonprofits should check HubSpot's current regional terms directly.

Does the nonprofit discount apply to HubSpot's Starter plans?

No. The discount applies to net-new Professional or Enterprise tier products; Starter is excluded. That materially changes the decision — it's not 'HubSpot is cheap for nonprofits', it's 'is Professional worth it at 40% off'.

Does the discount cover HubSpot onboarding fees?

No. Onboarding is a separate line item on the higher tiers and stays at full price. It's a meaningful cost and should be budgeted independently of the subscription.

How does this compare to Salesforce's nonprofit pricing?

Structurally different. Salesforce's Power of Us programme provides 10 free subscriptions with discounts beyond that, rather than a percentage off. That difference is part of why many nonprofits land on Salesforce as their system of record and then evaluate HubSpot for marketing on top, instead of choosing one outright.
